SPRING DEALS

I know, I know, it's just getting ridiculous how much time I'm letting elapse between posts these days. It feels as though I haven't visited this old friend in ages, poor little blog.

I've been busy, working away in the studio but also finding a lot of pleasure in working on myself. I've been taking pilates classes twice a week and trying to take more time to spend with friends. I feel like I've pretty much managed my stress situation and am beginning to enjoy making things again, which I wasn't for awhile. Life feels like it's coming together in a really positive way. Of course, knowing that Spring is on it's way helps a lot too!

I guess the big news is that three weeks ago I moved my studio out of my home and into a space in Mile End. I'm sharing with a group of fantastically talented ladies and am absolutely loving being out of the house every day (even if I usually have some significant trouble getting there before noon). I've been intentionally leaving my computer at home, and I don't have a cell phone so I'm breaking some of the bad habits I got into working from a room in my house (I'm looking at you, Law & Order.) I also just booked a short trip to Mexico where I've never been and am so keen to explore. I'm craving sunshine and colour and delicious food and simply seeing something new.

Of course moving & traveling means *Spring Cleaning* is essential and so I'm clearing out the little remaining stock I have from the F/W collection - mostly at half-price. Here's what I have left (I promise, this is the last time you will see these same photos again on this blog!):

I've FINALLY had a chance to take photos of the Saturn Dress, Eshe Top and Victorine Blouse in other colourways with the help of my beautiful friend Yana who agreed to model for me this week. As of today these items will all be uploaded to the shop, both *big cartel* & *etsy*, but quantities are limited and once these styles are gone I will not be making more this season.

NEW TO THE SHOP

The Eshe Blouse and Saturn Dress have officially been added to both the *shop* and *etsy*. In addition to being sold online, these styles are now available at Victoire in Ottawa, Robber in Toronto and Unicorn Boutique here in Montreal, with more shops to follow.

The fabric is a 55% Silk / 45% linen blend with a unique ribbed texture which wears beautifully. The Eshe blouse features vintage brass buttons while the Saturn dress is fully lined and has a sheer silk georgette panel at back bodice.

I will also be adding additional colours of these styles next week (just as soon as my model gets home from her trip to NY!)

ENDOR SKIRT

I've just added the 'Endor' Skirt to both *the shop* and *etsy*. New for Fall, this skirt is a curve-hugging mini made of organic cotton stretch twill, leather & suede. Personally I love this piece as at a glance it's such an easy basic, but deceptively complex on closer inspection. The fact that it has some stretch is nice too. I see myself wearing it a lot this winter with wool tights and just a white tee-shirt and black crew-neck sweater thrown on over top. Edgy, preppy, sexy, comfy - done.

A CLUTCH OF CLUTCHES

Long time coming, as usual, I finally added my new mixed-leather clutches to the shop this weekend. We actually had some sunny weather (for a change) so I was able to take photos on beautiful Saturday afternoon between bouts of book-reading and wine-sipping on the back balcony. All this after a perfect morning spent with Genevieve eating dim sum and wandering down to Reborn in old Montreal to ogle Arielle de Pinto jewels. Just a wonderful day, really, I've been needing one of those.

Anywayyyyy....

I added 7 new cubist pouches to the shop, which you can view *here*. They are all made with favourite bits of leather I've been hoarding over the months and years, and all lined in a natural-coloured organic linen. My favourite-of-the-moment is the Pebble Pink which I am tempted to keep for myself, though I suppose I can always make another should I decide I need to.

Though  I have enough leather to recreate some of these (the Pebble Pink for example) others are one of a kind. Please get in touch if you have questions!

SAGE CIRCLES

I'm the kindof person who takes forever to finish a project, and usually it's just the very last step in the process that trips me up. I'm that girl who buys all the materials to make jam but somehow never gets around to purchasing the jars. I'll cut plant clippings for friends that sit in cups of water for years awaiting soil. I'll sew an entire shirt for myself and fail to add buttonholes for 6 months. I have two quilt projects on the go which likely won't see completion soon, unless I'm suddenly bedridden for the next half-year. I am bad, OK?

I am also very bad at getting-it-together in a timely fashion to take, edit & post photos of items I've made. Ditto for adding new items to my shop. And though I'm trying to change this, little by little, taking the final step and making things available to the public is not one of my personal strengths.

Today, though, I am breaking the cycle and adding a new dress to my shop. The result of work I did months ago, my hand-dyed, tie front dress is now up on Etsy. This piece is made from a lovely woven linen/rayon blend and hand tie-dyed a beautiful minty-sage green. It is available in sizes S, M & L, just one of each. OLD FRIENDS

Hey, remember this guy? He sat in my shop for a grand total of 30 hours before going on a little adventure and only now is he back in my hands and happily lounging in Etsy-land.

This is what he looks like when I wear him, happily resting on my shoulder as we get to know one another again. See how I'm growing out my hair and it looks like there's a rug on the back of my neck? Well, that's fun too.

OBSESSION

As I obsessively window shopped the internet all weekend (busy weekend), I kept coming back to this one fantastic jumpsuit on Etsy. I loved it, but it reminded me of something too, which I couldn't seem to put my finger on.

Finally today it hit me - Jean Paul Gaultier Fall 2010 Couture! I've had this image sitting on my desktop for almost a year now. Of course it just makes me want the jumpsuit more, but I'm saving for a vacation.

Seriously though, someone needs to buy this, it's just that good.

AS PROMISED

Two new styles freshly in the shop this morning, er, afternoon!

I finally got it together to design & sew myself a definitive leather tote for use over the next few months. My specifications (as usual): simple, sleek, sophisticated. Bereft of unnecessary adornment but containing just enough texture and detail to keep one interested. Impeccably crafted (if I do say so myself) of the highest quality materials. Darkly elegant, slightly sculptural, perfectly polished.

And voila! The Cubist leather tote. I liked it so much I even made a little pochette to go with.

Some details: This bag is entirely crafted of black motorcycle leather that I dragged across the country with me from Alberta. It's lined in a snake-print cotton twill and contains two interior pockets and one attached key hook. I hand braided the straps while watching old episodes of Two Fat Ladies on youtube and attached them to the bag with hidden stitching for extra strength. I also made tassels, cause tassels are a good thing. Here are some photos:

As for the pochette, I used the same geometric design as the leather tote but in a nice, compact little zippered package. I think this would make the meanest make up bag in town and that's just what I plan to use it for.
